Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Reflection: This verse makes my heart beats more and I felt that my body warms a bit. It is quite creepy to pray that prayer thinking what would God find in me…in you? I am thinking where do my/your heart beat faster? What gives us the adrenalin? What our desires are? Do our hearts beat for God? What about His Word? Does it give us the adrenaline boost that we need in order to be excited about it? And our desires…are they heavenward?
To be honest, this verse made me teary-eyed. Thinking that if God’s heart beats for us…then why is it difficult for us humans to do the same?
I am thinking of myself. There are a lot of things that make my heart happy or beat extra like being with my loved ones. Or watching the beautiful nature that God created or if I made something nice.
It beats also when I see God’s work being done. Seeing other’s faith grow stronger and people seeking God.
There are a lot of things that actually make my heart beats faster. Blessings from God for example.
David prayed to be searched, He was humble to admit that he needed God to rearrange his thoughts so that he would not offend God. He wanted God to make his heart in peace. Not to be anxious because worrying means he had lost his trust in God.
We can well pray like David? God knows everything anyway. It is when we humble ourselves and admit that without God, we are hopeless cases. When we do that, God will be moved I believed.
Prayer:
Dear God, I pray that our hearts will always long for You. Beat for You. Desire Your desires because Your desires are pure and lovely, and good. Help us to think how You think. Only then we can be assured that we are on the right path. Have your way in us Father. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
Where does your heart beats?
