Takknemlighet!

Takk Gud, for vakre morgenstunder,
Takk Gud, for hver en dag du gir.
Takk Gud, for det store under:
Du fra synd meg frir.

Takk Gud, for alle gode venner,

Oss i evighet.

Takk Gud, for skriftens klare lære,

The words that we speak!

The words that we speak!

Recognize any of these statements?

I am going to eat less and lose weight.

I am going to exercise.

I am going to quit bad habits.

I am going to work more.

I am going to be rich and famous!

I am going to pray.

I am going to read my bible every day.

The list of going to do or going to be can be endless.

There are many things we want to do because we want to be a better person and of course, to look better. Maybe we have the desire to be more popular?  To gain more friends. To earn more money so that we can buy things that we need or want.

We made statements like these ? strong declarations of what we want to happen in our lives especially after the New Year?s Eve. Am I right?  But saying something and making sure it occurs are two different things. It takes effort and dedication, and even then, what we want to happen may not take place.

As I look at myself, there are many things in myself that I want to be better. But it takes so much time and effort to do all those things that it can drain my energy. Therefore, I just do my best and I let God do the rest.

How about you? Are you a person with one word? Do you always manage to do all the things that you had planned to do or said that you are going to do?

I know one that can do everything that He promised that He would do. Our Almighty God!

In Psalm 33:4-5 we read:

For the word of the Lord is right and true;

he is faithful in all he does.

The Lord loves righteousness and justice;

the earth is full of his unfailing love.

There are many though who still doubts His credentials or does not believe that He exist either, although the creations are enough evidence to  define the Creator. Our loving and most powerful God. In fact, some can say that God is a liar. That he just couldn?t do anything! Just think of the wars that is going on, people that are being murdered, injustice everywhere, catastrophes and so on.

Have you blamed God for a disaster that happened in your life? I had done it many times before during those moments that I didn?t feel His presence. I am so thankful though for his mercy towards me that He had given me chances to learn from my mistakes again and again.  I believe that He do it for everyone who repent.

Anyway, we must be careful of the words that we utter every moment. Our words can lead us to destruction of ourselves without we knowing or being aware of  it.

We can read in  Proverbs 18:21 :

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Again: ? How about the word that God speaks??

According to Psalm 33: 6-9

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,

their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

What God says comes to being. God spoke , and the world came into existence. What a testimony of God?s greatness! That is the difference between us and God.  When we speak, we voice out our wishes, when God speaks, He creates reality.

But the good thing is, if we proclaim God?s words and His promises  into our lives, then they will too become reality. Because God?s words are powerful. A treasure and life for those who find it.

Jesus said, ?The [Holy] Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.? (John 6:63)

?For the word of God is living and active.? (Hebrews 4:12)

So what would you choose? God?s words or your words?

Sharing from my English blog:

A few years ago we went to Molde and stopped by at  this place  located along the way. They have cottages for rent , restaurant, kiosk and a lighthouse.

Skarstua and Lysgården

My daughter and my husband looking around!

Trolls everywhere!

This  thing was used by the farmers before to cut grass!

And the cottages!

Me and my hubby…

and the lighthouse at the background. They sell handmade candles.

Inside…….

Autum candles….

Winter candles…..

Wedding candlelights

And christmas trees made of candles.

The fruits were also candles!

In Norway we used a lot of candlelights to decorate our homes, in parties, as gifts, or to  make the darkest winter cozy! Light do something with people.

God said: We are the light of the world and we shall let our light shine before men that they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven. (Matthew 5: 14-16)

I began to ponder about it because there are also different kinds of lights. And what kind of light I am or you?

Red

Yellow

Green

 Dim

Flashing

Are we the red lighs that reminds people that they have to stop to avoid danger?

Or  yellow lights that makes people to slow down? Or make people to enjoy the beauty around them?

Maybe I am the green light. Always on the go.

How about dim light? It is good when we are going to sleep or make a romatic evening with the one we love. Are we like dim lights  that makes people we encounter to relax?

Flashing light: Reminds me of a lighthouse that gives signals to sea voyagers at night so that they can navigate in the dark. Are we that kind of flashing lights that help those in darkness to find the right way?

But no matter what kind of light we might be, we cannot shine on our own. Like all these kinds of light, they have a source of energy.

Jesus is our source of light. So if we want to have the light of life, we just follow Jesus!

How about leading someone out of darkness into light?

Think how wonderful it would feel!

So go ahead friends….spread light around you! Remember, we are the light of the world.

Telefonen ringte hos værvarslingen i Bergen,

Puerto Princessa ( underground river)

Memories…

Happiness is spending time with my family. So in one of my vacation in the Philippines I treat  my mother and  my children with their families a vacation  to Puerto Princessa.

The City of Puerto Princesa (lit. City of Princess Port, Filipino: Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa) is a city located on the western provincial island of Palawan, one of 80 provinces which make up the Philippines. source: Wikepedia

This is the aiport. A small one!

And the place where we stayed. Twenty minutes drive from the airport. Sorry, I forgot the name of this apartelle.

In front of the place we rent. My second daughter, her son and me:) We look alike, isn’t it?

One of the greatest attraction in Puerto Princessa is the underground river. So we  have to see it. It was around two and half hours drive  and half hour by boat to get there. So we took a rest and took a picture  along the way.

We rode a boat from this place to take us to the other side. The underground river.

This is my son, his wife and their two kids that time. Now they have three!

In the boat together with my fourth grandhild:)

And now, everybody in just one boat to the underground river and we were 12.

The entrance of the underground river!

WONDERS OF NATURE

The PPUR is one of the few such caves which the general public can easily experience and it is navigable up to 4.3 km. and is reputed to be the longest navigable underground river in the World. Park operated paddle boats take visitors for 1 hour tour of the cave to appreciate the different rock formations as well as the thousand of bats and swiftlets that inhabit the cave. Tours are scheduled daily except during extreme weather conditions.

Different rock formations…. it was dark and scary for the kids.

The guide have a battery driven light, so we could see these awesome sight! The guide paddled and at the same time talked in one hour to tell us the story of the rocks. He was a very funny man, but we learned a lot from him. He was a good storyteller.

He said that this place was also use as a hiding place during the war.

We were so amazed to see how these rocks formed in different shapes in many years. But we were warned by the guide not to touch anything. It has something to do with the growth of the rocks, he told us.

more awesome pictures….

It was a one hour journey back and forth, so we were happy to see the light of the sun again.

Now, it is picture taking time before we leave. Me and my mother!

My second daughter and her family.

My first daughter and her two kiddos:) and her husband. Picture under.

And we have seen a lot including these funny creatures…

who steal  anything you have if you are not watching.

As humans they want to be together. Oh, they just wacthing us as we stared at them:)

But this touched me heart. This monkey carried her offspring wherever she goes.

Well, that is all for now. I will be sharing more pictures from our trip to crocodile farm, in a ranch, a park and island hopping in my next posts.

Time to get wet ( Philippines)

Sharing from my English blog!

Last part of our visit to the Philippines!

Vacation in the Philipines will not be complete without getting wet. I mean swimming in the pool and at the beach. So we packed our swimwear and brought with us food. The filipinos don’t go swimming  without ( baon) food.

And my beloved mother who cooks delicious meals made macaroni soup.

My youngest daughter haven’t tasted that kind of soup before, but she said that it was very delicious. Then after we went home to Norway, I tried to make the same soup, but she told me that Grandma’s soup was better. 🙂 Well, I can just agree with her, coz it was true.

Since we lived in Makati area, we had chosen a resort in Laguna. Takes only more than two hours drive.

And here we are, young and old soaking ourselves in water.

If you are wondering why the water was not deep, we had chosen the childrens swimming pool coz the water was hot there. And only a few of us can swim.

My three beloved daughters and the baby is Candice, my second grandchild.

My son with his wife and daughter!

I love this picture coz I can see the love looks in their eyes. Candice, the baby is 9 years old now.

Candice first swimming lesson!

And that was the last bonding day for my family in Norway and Philipines coz,  my mother-in-law, my husband and my youngest daughter went home earlier , so that I could spend more time with my family in the Philippines.

And then at the beach together with the rest of relatives:)

But before we did anything else, we have to eat first. That was the first command from our stomachs:)

With me are my two daughters and granddaughter Candice.

My son and his wife with my first grandchild Andrei! He is 12 years old now. And to the right is my brother-in-law!

My older sister just arrived from Germany! She lives in Norway too now.Happy to have her with us:)

My youngest sister taking picture of her youngest daughter. Her first swimming at the beach:)

Four sisters! Two others were not in the picture. One was in Norway and the other was taking a shower.

Four generation: my mother, me, my son and his two children. Now he has three and we are now older, but looking better. hi, hi

My grandson Andrei and my nephews really enjoyed the beach.

But Ariel, my second daughter’s fiance that time seeked comfort under the sand:)

And picture taking before we leave the beach!

And before me and my sister Lourdes leave our homecountry again…. Those were the days when we were young:)

Memories from 2004 that I cherished in my heart.

Until next blog!
