Word: When the (devil) tells a lie, he is only doing what is natural to him, because he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44
Reflection: Yes, we had heard his voice countless times and he (the devil) is still very active nowadays. He told his first lies to Adam and Eve and he just continues throughout the generations. People had been conned and probably we had been too. But still, we should be thankful that as much as the enemy is very active, so is our All-powerful God, all-knowing, and loving Father. We only need to stay close to God because in Him is the truth. God never lies. His Words stand forever.
When Jesus was tempted by Satan after fasting for forty days and forty nights, Jesus defeated Satan with God’s words.
We can read in Matthew 4:1-11
Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
Even though Satan also used God’s words to con Jesus, but Jesus knows the truth and he used it to rebuke Satan.
It tells me that the enemy can also use God’s words to twist the truth and make us believe that he is telling the truth. That is why it is so important that the word of God is grounded and rooted in our hearts or else we will be cheated. We need to have daily appointments with God to remain connected to him and His power.
When Satan left Jesus, the angels administered to Jesus. God will provide for us when we don’t give in to the lies of the enemy.
When the enemy says that we are not good enough, we should say to Him that yes we are because God loved us so much and showed his love through Jesus who died for our sins.
And if the enemy tells us that we are weak and no matter what we do, it will not be enough, we can say to Him that with God, we can do the impossible.
