Again Jesus said, « Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. John 20:21
Reflection: PEACE be with me /you said, Jesus. The verse tells me that it means PEACE when I/you are facing difficult situations because He will give us wisdom if we ask:
James 1:5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
He is on our side. Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Peace when we are sick because He can heal us or help us to endure: Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
PEACE when we are in lack: Psalm 34:10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
PEACE when we are persecuted because He said in John16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have PEACE. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
Prayer: Thank You Jesus for the peace that you give. The peace that surpasses all understanding. Peace in trouble, hardship, sickness, in lack, when we are persecuted, peace in unknown future, and that You are on our side.
You promised Lord that we who dwells in Your shelter Oh Most High will rest in Your shadow our Almighty God. You are our refuge and fortress and whom we trust.”
Thank You for the promise that You will save us from the hunters snare and from the deadly (covid-19 or any other virus) pestilence.
Thank You that You will cover us with Your feathers and under Your wings, we can find refuge. Your faithfulness will be our shield and barrier. We will not fear the terror of night nor the arrows that fly by daynor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at our sides, ten thousand at our right hands, but it will not come near us.
We will only observe with our eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
Because we say that You are our refuge and our dwelling, therefore no harm will overtake us, no disaster will come near our dwellings.
For you will command Your angels concerning us, to guard us in all our ways.
They will lift us in their hands so that we will not strike our foot against a stone.
We will tread on the lion and the cobra; we will trample the great lion and the serpent.
Because we love You, Lord, then You will rescue us.
You will protect us, for we acknowledge Your name.
We will call on You, and You will answer us;
You will be with us in trouble.
You will deliver us and honor us.With long life, You will satisfy us and show us our salvation. Your promises Lord in Psalm 91.
What does it mean really to me/you that the Lord is GOOD? Do I /you think God is GOOD when we are in trouble when we are sick when we lost loved ones when we are probably failing in our ministry, work, or relationships? When we are hurt, neglected, alone and lonely, or attacked?
Sometimes I ask God that if He is good, why he let His children die young, be persecuted, suffer, experience loss, have difficulties, and on and on.
Well, for one thing, God has not promised a problem-free life if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. He said that “in this world, we will have tribulations, but we must take heart because he overcomes the world. But in him, we will have peace. (John 16:33)
False comforters
And it happened too that when I did not understand God and could not see that He is answering my prayers or doing anything to ease my pain or difficulties, I sought comfort on other things so that my mind will not be overwhelmed by heartaches, sickness, defeat, rejection and on and on. I found comfort in the false comforters that help me forget things for a while. Not necessarily drugs or alcohol, but other things like NETFLIX, reading books, or create things than seek God’s presence. But it was just temporary, and I found myself seeking God again. I thank God for His patience towards me.
Good to be reminded that I need to TRUST Him, and I must not let other things take more space in my life than God.
If I/ you trust God, we will believe in His Word. We can depend on His provisions. We trust Him to guide us on an unknown path. We are confident that no matter what happens, God can turn everything for good for us who love Him.
We should not be afraid of anything, in people or the future.
Trusting God is putting our hope in him. Not people, not ourselves or the world. If we trust God, we will be loyal to Him no matter if others don’t.
With God, we know that we will be taken care of. We will then not be afraid or give up doing things for God because we are trusting God that if we go with Him, then victory is ours.
We will trust God that behind the dark clouds in our lives, the sun can pop up anytime. To have faith that everything will be better in the future.
But to put out trust in God, we need to spend time knowing Him, His ways, His Word.
Can God be like a trust fund of our life? We let Him decide what is best for us in any situation? He owns everything anyhow. I believe we can set our confidence in Him because he knows the best.
In God, We Trust is written on denominations of US currency. It should be written in our hearts.
Application:
In the verse, it says that God is my /yours stronghold and the day of trouble if we Trust Him. He cannot help us in any situation that is difficult for us if we don’t trust Him.
It tells me that when I am in trouble, I should wait on the Lord to help me go through and to give me insight and wisdom on how to deal with the trouble. Trouble mind and trouble people. He will be my shield when I am persecuted. He will provide strength when I am weak. He gives me the patience to endure any difficulties. And if I am failing in my own eyes, then He is the one that will remind me that whatever I do good in His name, it is what it counts. Not the success in the world’s view. I just need to continue to do good. To sow seeds of righteousness, love, and blessings to other people.
Prayer: Dear God, I thank You that You are our stronghold, and we can put out trust in You. I pray Lord that we will not put our trust in ourselves, on others, or the world. Only to You. Because You are trustworthy and have all the resources that we need. We can put our present and the future to You. I pray this prayer for me and every people that is connected to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Men her er baksten:)
I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds. I will tell all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in You. I will sing praises of Your name, O Most High God. Psalm 9:1-2
This verse implies giving thanks to the Lord with all my/ your heart. Being thankful to God I believe should be every moment in every believer’s heart. Not only when everything is alright, when I /you have everything that we need, when we have money to spend and buy what we want, when we have nice cars, houses, lots of clothes and all the material things that our heart craves. And that should not be half-hearted thanksgiving. It should be with all our heart.
In my life…I find that it easier for me to be thankful when everything is well. But in my difficult moments, I struggle to be thankful. But lately, God had shown in my difficulties that still I can be thankful. Thankful for being weak because he can make me strong. Thankful for lacking in wisdom and anything that I need, so that I can ask Him. Thankful that I can entrust Him with my present and my future and my loved ones. Thankful that I don’t need to be afraid because He goes with me. Thankful that in everything, there is a lesson to be learned. So, if I see that God can calm every storm and rough waters in my life, I will have peace and still can rejoice no matter how hard the storm hits. No matter how rough waters in my life seem to drown me. No matter how sick I am, I can rejoice because I am in God’s hands.
Telling about God’s wonderful deeds is not easy if I/ you only focus on the problems and difficulties in my/your life. But I believe that if I/you focus on what God had done; His Creations and by offering His Son to die for us, then it is more than enough to tell. The life of the bible heroes is another thing. They are living witnesses of God’s miracle works and faithfulness. Not to mention what God had done in my/your life.
It is a reminder to me to tell others who is God to me and what he had done in my life not only in words but also in my deeds.
Praising God is not easy for me too. I don’t even like my voice when I am singing. Much so God. But I don’t have to sing, I can speak my praises to God. It should be my /your goal to praise God day in and day out.
Application: I will give thanks to God not only in good times but all the time. I will tell others of his good deeds in words and action. I will praise him with all my heart, soul, and spirit. I will pray for help to do everything and will thank God that whatever I lack, He will provide.
Prayer: Dear God, open our eyes every day to see what we can give thanks to You. Let us see things, people, and different situations as You do. Let us feel like You. Loving and merciful. Give us the wisdom to know Your will under troubles, hardships, persecution, lack, defeat, sickness, and challenges. I thank You that You promise not to leave us or forsake us so that we don’t need to be afraid. You are our Almighty God who stands with us. Our strong tower. A shield from the attacks of the evil one. Our Delight and joy in every circumstance. Our Savior and Lord and who provides, for us, who can heal any sickness and disease. A wise and good leader for us to follow. You are our everything, Lord. Apart from You we are lost. So, I thank You that You showed us the way, the truth, and the life. May we hold on to Your promises (Words) like our dear life. Like a treasure. May we walk with You, obey You, love You, and praise You every waking of the sun. Every moment of our lives Lord. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
